Slow

Beitrag von greyowl » 03.12.2008, 22:21

I just tried Clearprog for the first time today and like it very much. I particularly like the fact that items are cleared to the recycling bin rather than directly deleted like other cleaning apps.

I have a couple of questions:

I usually use CCleaner. I find Clearprog to be significantly slower in both preview and clearing. Why would there be such a difference?

At times the scroll bar flashes, and I can't figure out the reason. What does a flashing scroll bar mean?

Thanks for your help.

Possible explanations that come to mind are:
- ClearProg is written in VisualBasic, whereas CCleaner might be done in C(++)
- plugins must be parsed at runtime; this might account for some of the slowdown

No idea - this might be one for Sven to answer ;)

Thanks for the reply.

The flashing scroll bar is the one to the right of the options for Windows, Other Progs, and Selected Plugins (the other categories don't have enough options to have a scroll bar). Initially when I select the category on the left the scroll bar does not flash. It begins flashing when I move it and continues til I change one of the options, but then begins again when I move it again. I tried selecting all the options and this doesn't change the behavior as described above.

I'm just wondering what this means.

Ok, this is a bug on system without XPstyles.
Perhaps you use Win2000 ?

I have Vista and there i can't see this Problem.
But i can remember, i had the same problem unter earlier operating systems like Win2000.

Please send me an email.
Then i will send you a changed version for test without flashing.

Question:

Is it best to remove the old version and then install this fixed version?

Or, is it ok to install this version over the old version?

Thanks,
John

Another Question:

The new version is a zip file and not the setup file that I used previously.

To install, do I just move the new files to the ClearProg directory and replace the old with the new?

Thanks again.
